St Mary Magdalene of Earth, Sea and Heaven
Saint Mary Magdalene floats between heaven and earth as a sublime agent of renewed life, holding the sacred feminine life force in her womb and pouring it forth abundantly from the universe. The flora and moon flowers refer to her presence with Jesus in the garden after the resurrection. Mermaid-like and in female synchronicity with the moon, Mary’s watery fecundity is primal. Her powerful waves of blood red hair are about to obliterate the crucifixion and transmute the crosses to stars. The large star above her head refers to the guiding light at Jesus’s birth. The traditional egg in her outstretched hand offers nascent and pure life, and the orbiting orange halo symbolizes her sainthood. Everything is in quantum motion and Mary abides there in a dreamlike state, in timeless and dynamic transcendence between what is beyond and here; past, now and future; holy, and of the earth.
